Whatever you do, don't advertise in shop windows. My friend thought that was a great idea for his project- free advertising and it covers an almost infinite audience (who doesn't buy groceries). Hmmm.... well, after two days of auditions - mostly consisting of OAPs with way too much time on their hands - I ended up filling one of his main roles. This was never a good idea because my acting skills yo-yo from pantomime to rabbit-in-headlights.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Alright Duffy!

Well, about 6 months ago, I was in the exact same position as you are in now. No contacts, no equipment and not a lot of hope. Then someone got in touch with me and invited me down to G-Mac's Cafe Flicker. It's on the 1st wednesday of every month, and it's for showing short films, getting feedback and gerenally networking. I made enough contacts to get my short film, "Dead Stoned" shot, edited and last wednesday, got it premiered, with the full cast and crew showing up.

If you wanna E-mail me with some information about yourself then maybe we can arrange to meet up and maybe work on a project together?!

Speak to you soon!

Okay, point taken.

I logged on to Exposure for the first time last night, and had no idea who my target audience might be. I had hoped that this might be the place where people could offer some encouragement and practical advice...

And I was right - you've both given me some really valuable feedback - which is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be wiser before I post anywhere else!

Thanks for that gem Dani - I think I know some other people who did that - and with similar results!

As for you, Chance -

1. I'm pretty sure the industry is littered with people promising nirvana and delivering sweet f.a. - and I'm assuming the members of the Exposure forum can see through them.

2. as to the what and why - I thought my post was already lengthy enough as it was - you have the opportunity to eMail me to find out more

3. leadership - well, you're already waving the flag, so I'ld imagine everyone's already following you! Aren't they?

No flame intended! And on the subject of flaming - my first impressions are that there is very little of that here.
(and I've seen some bad ones!)
Maybe there's hope for the human race yet!

Chance - I know you're just trying to be helpful and succinct at the same time, and you're right - it needs to be shorter and it needs a hook.

And Dani - drop me a line - I'm casting for my next feature called "Rabbit in Headlights". It'll be an existentialist piece, but don't let that put you off!

Regards,

Loxley.

P.S. What does anybody think about my Swap Shop idea? We could get Nigel to put a sticky on it.

New people to the site (like me, last night) could go straight to the wanted/offered section.

People won't get frustrated when their topic disappears to the back, and we won't have to hijack topics like Duffy's!

Sorry Duffy

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I would go friends. But about cast there might be acting courses, schools or clubs near you. Find them. Also go to the nearest theater and ask somebody help there.

...Chau!
